Privacy Policy

Aline is a daily companion app for tasks, calendar, routines, focus and journaling. It was built to be private by default. There are no accounts, and almost everything you create stays on your phone. This page explains the few cases where data leaves your device and what happens to it.
What stays on your device
Your tasks, calendar events, routines, focus sessions, journal entries, mood check-ins, voice notes and app settings are stored only on your phone. We do not have an account system, we do not sync this data to a server, and we cannot see it. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.
The AI assistant
When you chat with the built-in assistant, your messages are sent over an encrypted connection to our service and then to our AI provider, Anthropic, so a reply can be generated. To answer well, each request also includes a small amount of context: the current date and time and the short "reason you came to the app" you optionally chose during setup. If you ask the assistant about your tasks, events, routines or journal, the relevant entries are included in that request too, so it can help with them.
We do not store your conversations on our server. Our service keeps only minimal technical logs (for example, the type of an error) and uses your IP address briefly to limit abuse and rate-limit requests; it is not linked to an identity. Anthropic processes the request under its API terms and does not use it to train its models. If you never open the assistant, no chat data leaves your device.
The assistant is a supportive coach, not a medical service. It does not diagnose conditions or give medical or medication advice, and it is not a substitute for professional care.
Microphone, voice notes and dictation
Aline uses the microphone only when you choose to record a voice note or dictate. Voice notes are saved on your device. Dictation may be handled by your phone's built-in speech recognition, which is provided by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Photos
Aline requests photo access only at the moment you pick an image to show inside the app. It does not scan or upload your photo library.
Notifications
Reminders for tasks, events and routines are scheduled locally on your device. They are not sent through our servers.
Subscriptions
The AI assistant is a paid feature. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card details. To know whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, which records the purchase and gives your device a random identifier. That identifier is not your name, email or Apple ID, and it is not linked to anything you write in the app.
RevenueCat receives your purchase history, the app version, and general device and country information from Apple so it can tell us whether the subscription is valid. We use it for nothing else. If you never subscribe, none of this applies to you.
What we do not do
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- No analytics, advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking.
- No selling or sharing of your data.
- No profiles built about you.
Third parties
We rely on a small number of providers, only as needed:
- Anthropic — generates the assistant's replies from your messages.
- Vercel — hosts the service that passes assistant requests along.
- Apple — provides the platform, local notifications and on-device speech recognition.
Data retention and deletion
Because your content lives on your device, you delete it by deleting the entry in the app or by deleting the app itself. There is no account to close and nothing for us to delete on a server, since we do not keep your content.
Children
Aline is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
